NBLC Competitions & Challenges ALL ENTRIES: Entry forms can be obtained from the duty officer’s desk. Place completed item in a container and place the ID strip from the entry form inside the container or attach it to the container, so it can be read from the outside. Do not write your name on the container. Place the container & form into the wooden entry box in the faceting room by the due date.

President’s Challenge 2019 – Christmas Jewellery Entries due 4th December 2019 MAXIMUM OF THREE ENTRIES PER PERSON Theme: City/Suburbia: Any piece of jewellery depicting a scene/ motif of an Australian City or Suburb and can include parks/wildlife/buildings/freeways etc
JUDGING: The Competition will be judged by Club members at the 2019 Christmas Party. Voting is done by gold coin donation. The entry with the most money wins.
MATERIAL: No restriction on materials that can be used. STYLE: Any piece of jewellery depicting scenes or motifs of Australian City/Suburb. Your piece/s must be hand made by construction, casting, enamelling, etc. No commercial parts to be used. Your entry can include a stone but it must have been facetted or shaped by the entrant.
President’s Challenge 2020 – Gem Show
All entries due 5 th February 2020 There are four different sections to the President’s Gem Show Challenge:
1. Faceting: Presidents Challenge Topaz. Maximum 1 entry per person 2. Metalsmith/Jewellery: Ring with Topaz. Maximum 3 entries per person
3. Most Appealing Gemstone: Any cut. Maximum 3 entries per person
4. Standard Cabochon: Agate.Maximum 3 entries per person FACETING MAXIMUM OF ONE ENTRY PER PERSON JUDGING: The Competition will be judged in accordance with the rules and definitions of the Competitor & Judging Manual for Lapidary and Allied Competitions Issue No 8 April 2015 STYLE: Minimum size 6mm.
This is the same stone as the November/December Novice Bi-Month faceting competition. Cutting instructions following. The winning stone in the BiMonthly competition cannot be used again in this competition. MATERIAL The gem is to be cut in Topaz.
