North Brisbane Lapidary Club Inc is a not for profit group. Volunteers run all of the activities at the club. For each of the activities the club will try and have instructors to guide, advise and show new members how to cut and polish stones or make jewellery. This may mean though that there may not be a particular activity supported at each work session.
These activities are offered to all members of the North Brisbane Lapidary Club Inc. Some may require the completion of a specific course before members are allowed to participate. In addition some courses require an additional fee to pay for the resources used. If there is a fee it is noted on the activity specific page.
There are general safety rules that apply to everyone participating in activities at NBLC. Closed footwear must be worn while in any of the work rooms at the club. Additionally, because there are a lot of motors with belts and wheels, long hair must be tied up when in the work rooms at NBLC.
Activities include:
- Gem cutting – Learn how to facet gemstones and to cut and polish cabochons
- Metalsmithing – Learn the basic skills in metalsmithing including plus casting and enamelling
- Fossicking – Join the annual field trips
