Introducing Our Gem Show Trader Queensland Sapphires

February 28, 2019 By Raymond Wilson

Most people unfamiliar with sapphires would think they only came in a blue colour, whereas in fact they can be found naturally in all of the colours of the rainbow.  Queensland Sapphires owned by Noel Deeley will have on display and for sale one of the largest coloured sapphire displays  in Queensland.  You can be assured that you are dealing direct with the miner and that these stones are 100% natural.  All sizes, shapes and colours will be available from Noel at prices you just won’t see in your local jeweller.  The stones all come from the Central Queensland gem fields.  Why not come and buy a special stone for that engagement ring you are planning.

If you are after pendant or earring stones Noel will also have a wide range of natural zircons, again mined in Central Queensland.  Nothing but diamonds beat the sparkle of zircons, but at a fraction of the price of diamonds, zircons are a great alternative.

From amethyst to calcite, garnet, kyanite, sulphur or tourmaline; all can be found at Crystal Encounters. If fossils are your thing then this is the place to stop. The largest collection and variety of fossils will be available to purchase at very reasonable prices. If you are looking for something right out of this world then talk to Frank or Lynda about meteorites they can supply. Introducing our gem show trader L A Gems.

February 16, 2019 By Raymond Wilson

L A Gems is one of Queensland’s premier suppliers of quality inexpensive jewellery. L A Gems is a family owned and operated business run by Lesley Clark and Frank Dalgity.

Lesley and Frank have been trading at our gem show for over 20 consecutive years and in that time have served thousands of visitors to our show.

L A Gems sells a very wide range of rings, earrings and pendants in gold and sterling silver.  Not only do they sell the findings but Lesley will set your special gem on site if it is a standard claw setting.  This is an opportunity to source that special gem of sapphire or tourmaline or whatever gem takes your fancy and then talk to the jeweller to explore the right setting for the stone.

Looking for inexpensive shoulder stones to enhance your special stone?  Lesley has virtually thousands of small stones down to 1-2mm that can be added into your project.

The only advice I have is get to the L A Gems site early as Lesley always has a large wait list of customers to discuss their needs.

Before the show, check out the L A Gems website and pick out the setting that you like.  The castings catalogue contains hundreds of settings for rings, earrings and pendants.  For more info: www.lagems.net

Countdown to the NBLC Gem and Jewellery Show

January 29, 2019 By Katarina Hayston

The countdown is well under way. If you haven’t marked the date yet, do so. You wouldn’t want to miss our show this year:

Our annual show is scheduled for the Saturday 2nd March (8.30am – 4pm) and Sunday 3rd March (8.30am – 3pm).  Bracken Ridge State High school is kindly leaving their premises to us (at Barfoot St, Bracken Ridge)

There will be gem traders, jewellery making tools, gems (faceted and roughs), minerals (specimens, cabbed & carved stones and rough material) as well as a wide variety of opals and jewellery.

The popular fossicking area for kids will be there and no one is too old to try their hand.

Our kitchen fairies are working hard at supplying you with food (burger, sausages, sandwiches and cakes).

The theme this year revolves around imitates and man-made /synthetic gems and minerals. We are working on a display to allow you to look at samples of synthetics and the natural stones.

The items submitted for the Presidents challenges in faceting, cabbing and jewellery making will be on display.
